I think chip war is also a good read. It gives a much less technical overview of semiconductors but highlights how important they are for the global economy.
I'd like to recommend a surprisingly accessible book that shows you how to go from Boolean logic to gates to building an actual simple working CPU. It also it makes a great gift to spark interest in Computers for any high school kid -
