The best outcome has happened. Lip-Bu Tan, the most competent CEO candidate (aside from Gelsinger) has been selected.
Lip-Bu Tan lacks the critical flaw that Gelsinger had… excessive kindness.
I have purchased 2000 shares of INTC 0.00%↑ in after hours. There is legit hope now.
I am extremely busy at the moment because of real-life things.
Will have more to write in the weekend.
Some interesting things going on with Teradyne, GloFo, and Tower.
Also low-quality macro thoughts and some GTC short ideas.
See you around. :)
Really hope you're right! I will hang on to my INTC and might add some after those news. A big remaining variable is now how Musk/Trump will react to any serious attempt to right the ship at Intel. They currently seem to be more intent on burning anything related to the Chips Act to the ground than actually preserving the only remaining advanced foundry that is based in the US. I hope they realize that Biden's big mistake wasn't the Chips Act itself, but not moving fast and bold enough. Guess we'll find out soon. As an aside, that very recent announcement by TSMC carefully avoided any commitment to also locate TSMC's most advanced manufacturing node in the US. AFAIK, TSMC is actually forbidden by Taiwanese law to locate their most advanced node anywhere else but in Taiwan (silicon shield).
When pat was fired you made a meme about how people pumped up intel then realized it changes nothing. Don’t you think it’s the same thing here? New ceo doesn’t change anything, the board is still there.
